City of Acworth

Convenient to both I-75 and Highway 41, Acworth exemplifies the quality of life most Americans dream of. While close enough to Atlanta to experience "big city" events, the "small town" charm of fun and tranquility abound in Acworth.

Historic charm and appeal abound in Acworth, especially the downtown district. A stroll down Main Street or one of the tree-lined streets is like stepping back in time to an era where treasured architecture and a simpler, more tranquil life has been preserved. Unique to Acworth, the commitment to balancing the small town, yet progressive theme, is evident wherever you look. Visitors and residents alike revel in the eclectic mix of shops and restaurants in downtown Acworth such as Henry´s Louisiana Grill and Top of the Morning Irish shop along with antique shops, theatres, and more.

Acworth is also surrounded by two lakes, Acworth and Allatoona, which offer boating, swimming, fishing and camping opportunities. Also nestled on the banks of Lake Acworth is Cobblestone Golf Course, recently rated the #1 public course in Georgia by Golf Digest.

City of Acworth, Georgia - Winner of the 2010 All-America City Award!

The City of Acworth is pleased to announce that the Acworth Community has been selected as a 2010 All America City. The National Civic League’s All America City Award Competition was held June 16 through June 18 in Kansas City, Missouri where twenty five cities from across the nation competed for the coveted designation. The distinction of being chosen as an All America City is a prestigious honor for those communities that have demonstrated success in overcoming community challenges. The Acworth Community highlighted three programs where the government, business, non-profit, and faith based organizations came together to achieve a common goal. The three programs are the Expanding Horizons, Acworth Achievers, and the Horizon Field.

The delegation including youth, business, community leaders, and faith based leaders, local officials, presented a ten minute presentation before a juried panel of judges. Our community collectively accepts this prestigious award and is honored to be chosen as an All America City. We feel privileged for the opportunity to display our wonderful attributes and to hopefully to inspire other communities to follow suit. What a great day to be in Acworth, Georgia!”
