Located on the northwest edge of Metro Atlanta, modern day Paulding County´s peaceful and beautiful landscape reflects little of its exciting, often tumultuous, history. Once a part of the Cherokee territory, Paulding County was created by an act of the Georgia Legislature on December 3, 1832, after the Cherokees were pushed west to Oklahoma on the infamous "Trail of Tears". Today, Paulding is experiencing incredible residential growth and is the 9th fastest-growing county in the nation and was voted by CNN and Money Magazine as the 20th best place for job growth in July, 2007. Their proximity to metropolitan Atlanta provides easy access for its residents to enjoy a "big city" lifestyle, while still maintaining a friendly, small-town "local" atmosphere. Paulding County´s housing costs are mixed with the east being more expensive than the western part of the county.
