Paulding County

Located on the northwest edge of Metro Atlanta, modern day Paulding County´s peaceful and beautiful landscape reflects little of its exciting, often tumultuous, history. Once a part of the Cherokee territory, Paulding County was created by an act of the Georgia Legislature on December 3, 1832, after the Cherokees were pushed west to Oklahoma on the infamous "Trail of Tears"Today, Paulding is experiencing incredible residential growth and is the 9th fastest-growing county in the nation and was voted by CNN and Money Magazine as the 20th best place for job growth in July, 2007. Their proximity to metropolitan Atlanta provides easy access for its residents to enjoy a "big city" lifestyle, while still maintaining a friendly, small-town "local" atmosphere.  Paulding County´s housing costs are mixed with the east being more expensive than the western part of the county.

Paulding County has a rich history with links to the Civil War and the Trail of Tears. History buffs can check out the New Hope Church describing events of the battle fought between Generals Sherman and Johnston in 1864 or Pickett´s Mill Battlefield State Historic Site where one of the best preserved battlefields in the nation is found. It is the site of the bloody battle between Generals Sherman and Howard in 1864 where Union troops were turned away from Paulding toward Kennesaw. Several great sites are also on the National Register of Historic Places.

Also located within the county is the Silver Comet Trail. The Silver Comet is a nationally famous cycling, hiking and equestrian facility that follows a scenic former railroad right-of-way, beginning in neighboring Cobb County and traversing west more than 100 miles into Alabama.

Paulding County schools have recently undergone renovations and modern additions have been incorporated. The county system features excellent schools with a low student to teacher ratio.

Living in Paulding gives you a feeling of "Uptown Sophistication with Front Porch Style", a unique mixture of city lifestyle with a country tradition.
